2023 WiST Fellowship

Remote (United States)

The WiST Fellowship Program supports women and nonbinary undergraduate, graduate and PhD students eager to begin their careers in the sports tech industry. This flagship program is an integral part of how we propel women into important roles and leadership positions in sports tech.

APPLICATION TYPE

You may choose to apply for a Hosted Opportunity OR a Self-Created Project. You must apply for one or the other. You may not apply for both.

  • Hosted Opportunity - a Hosted Opportunity is an internship with a WiST partner company. The companies and the descriptions of the 2023 internships will be posted on our website starting in mid-November. We will continue to add opportunities through mid-December. You will want to keep checking our website to see if new internships have been added or updated.

  • Self-Created Project - We realize that some students have a project they are dreaming about working on, but do not have the resources. Therefore we offer the opportunity to apply for a WiST Fellowship grant to pursue a Self-Created Project. It can be with a company, organization or research group of your choice. If you would like to create your own project instead of selecting one of our Hosted Opportunities, you should select this option. Note that candidates who select this option are required to submit additional materials.

Checklist

  • Please confirm your eligibility for a WiST Fellowship. The program is open to women and nonbinary undergraduate, graduate and PhD students who are currently enrolled. Recipients must be U.S. citizens or international students enrolled in a U.S. university with a visa that will allow them to work in the U.S. in the summer of 2023. Applicants must also have a US bank account. Please go back through and make sure you’ve completed the entire application and uploaded all the required documents. Incomplete applications will be disqualified.

Selection Process

  • All applicants will be judged based on drive, passion, resilience, evidence of work ethic and growth mindset, expressed interest in exploring this landscape, how this opportunity can impact their career aspirations and willingness to learn and grow in a structured internship in a professional setting.
  • If you are applying for a Self-Created Opportunity we will also assess the project with regard to how it relates to the sports tech industry, its merits with regard to personal and career development, and overall feasibility.
