The National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) is the top professional women's soccer league in the USA, with 12 teams and 300+ of the best soccer players globally. In just its 10th season, the league continues to grow exponentially: In 2022, the NWSL shattered all-time fan attendance records, more than two dozen markets expressed demand for expansion teams, valuations of teams multiplied by double digits, several new C-suite executives were hired, and the league continues to receive unprecedented interest from sponsors and media partners alike. The future of the NWSL has never looked brighter.


Position Description

Reporting to the Director of Communications, the Communications Intern will assist with all matters related to the league's communications department through December 31, 2023.


Primary Responsibilities

  • Compile daily clips and monitor breaking news for league executive staff, board of governors and partners.
  • Coordinating and distributing press materials including but not limited to press releases, advisories, game notes, credential applications and press kits.
  • Posting select press releases and news stories to the league's website.
  • Research and develop thorough reports of other league communications processes/policies.
  • Update and manage league media distribution lists.
  • Assist the NWSL Communications and Marketing staff with media/marketing operations plans for all league tentpole events.
  • Assist with the administration of an annual satisfaction survey and the compilation of responses from Club's PR staff.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Pursuing or achieved Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, English or related field.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, multitasking, and time-management
  • Team player who enjoys working with and helping others in a collaborative environment
  • Curious and open to others' ideas and viewpoints with a willingness to learn and take constructive feedback.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills
  • Ability to deliver high-quality work and execute under pressure/deadlines.
  • Able and willing to work non-traditional hours including evenings, weekends and holidays.
  • Able to work at least 20 hours per week.

  • Previous experience and related internships preferred.

Hourly Rate: $18/hour


NWSL salaries are contingent upon candidates' qualifications, functional business needs, and market financials.
