Event Manager

Abbotsford, BC

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Event Manager is responsible for supporting the Operations Department with planning and executing events at Abbotsford Centre. This position will support the Event Services Department with hockey, concerts, other arena events and administrative duties.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

(Other duties may be assigned, as required)

  • Execute the event planning of all small events taking place at Abbotsford Centre to ensure we deliver world-class events
  • Lead the Event Services team with event planning & executing all Abbotsford Canucks games, Live Entertainment events
  • Establishing, maintaining and enhancing positive client relationships & transparent communication with internal departments
  • Develop and maintain external partner relationships to ensure best available resources
  • Preparing event documentation such as event details, event briefing notes, and post-event summaries
  • On event day, support the event briefings, our staff, and our Fan Services department to achieve an unforgettable experience for our Fans
  • Reviewing all event reports, action issues, and support Operations Department in making changes to event nights
  • Event day prep, including preparing scanners, checking break rooms and change rooms, etc. to ensure all tools and resources are available for staff to assist fans on event night
  • Follow-up on action items from previous event to ensure they are completed in a timely manner

 

 REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in live event production, services and management
  • A degree or diploma in event management, sport management, business administration, or another related field is preferred
  • Experience working in an arena venue
  • Experience working with production and technical personnel is an asset
  • Experience using AutoCAD is considered an asset
  • Effective time management and multi-tasking skills
  • Proven ability to adapt easily to evolving priorities and schedules
  • Self-motivated and confident
  • Strong computer skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to relate professionally to all levels of staff, management, and clientele
  • Committed to working in a team driven environment
