Overview


2024 Copa America will be the 48 th edition organized by South America’s football ruling body CONMEBOL. The tournament will be held in the United States and co-organized by Concacaf. Soccer United Marketing (SUM) is the hired agency to operate ticket sales, and operations for the 2024 tournament.


The Manager, Marketing & Promotions will execute the marketing strategies for Copa America and additional projects as assigned. This role will act as a key partner in marketing initiatives to enhance tournament revenue opportunities. They will work closely with the Director, Marketing & Promotions as well as the Senior Director, Match Business and other cross functional collaborators across MLS and SUM.


Responsibilities


  • Drive execution of overall marketing plan around Copa America events in collaboration with CONMEBOL, Concacaf, international football associations, and other key partners.
  • Drive media buying process across the organization incorporating multiple team members including digital and broadcast.
  • Implement event advertising strategy, including the placement of media buys in radio, television, print, online, and out-of-home.
  • Support promotion and campaign governance across all touch points and partners to ensure efficiency of implementation and Return on Investment assessment.
  • Enhance campaign strategies with data acquisition opportunities and build out CRM prospects around assigned events.
  • Create and implement grassroots marketing and promotional activities in key markets for sales and marketing initiatives (street teams, mascot/trophy tours, legend appearances, etc.)
  • Support the development of new marketing platforms with a focus on opportunities to support fan development and commercial partnerships.
  • Coordinate and implement in-market influencer and content media plans (ticket giveaways, digital sweepstakes, brand promotions, etc.)
  • Support ideation and execution of marketing initiatives in conjunction with other key internal team members.
  • Work with production vendors to execute stadium branding, ensuring all environmental signage follows brand guidelines.
  • Work with international football associations, MLS teams, stadiums, and local organizing committees to enhance event relevance and revenue.
  • Manage promotional inventory and oversee general office duties (invoice processing, creative requests, collateral/presentation design, promotional orders, shipping, etc.)
  • Produce post-match marketing recap and analysis.
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned.


Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 5+ years of experience in sports or event marketing; experience developing cross-functional promotions plans.


Required Skills


  • Fluency in English and Spanish (business proficiency; both written and oral).
  • Digital marketing Pay-Per-Click campaign management experience preferred, strong understanding of Google AdWords, Google Analytics, and Facebook/Meta Ad Manager.
  • Proficiency with creative development platforms (e.g., Photoshop, InDesign).
  • Expert PowerPoint skills: ability to translate strategic concepts to presentations, overview reports, promotional recaps, etc.
  • Experience working with and managing production and creative agencies.
  • High level of commitment to quality work product and organizational ethics, integrity, and compliance.
  • Superior organization, project management skills, and attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate, both written and verbally.
  • Demonstrated decision making and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to travel and to work non-traditional hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to travel for match day from mid-June through mid-July 2024 as required.

Total Rewards:


Starting Base Salary $75,000 - $85,000. MLS/SUM base salaries are contingent upon several factors including individual qualifications, market financials, and operational business needs.
