This position is responsible for the development and direction of national and local tournament marketing strategies utilizing paid media, earned media and promotions. Through strategic planning and execution, this position is responsible for building awareness, promoting event attendance, and driving admissions revenue in local markets for assigned events, while directly contributing to division goals of growing and diversifying the PGA TOUR’s fan base, creating fan engagement, and increasing admissions revenue by 10% for assigned tournaments. Individual will also serve as a liaison between internal and external stakeholders to execute marketing campaigns.


  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in Marketing, preferably sports marketing
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, Advertising or other related discipline
  • Experience managing a team and a background in project management is required
  • Affinity for golf along with knowledge and understanding of the PGA TOUR, its business model and media relationships
  • Must possess strong written and verbal communication, organization, creativity, time management and creative asset management skills
  • Understanding of driving direct revenue and fan engagement via marketing campaigns – i.e. ticket sales, ecommerce, app downloads, etc.


  • Develop and direct tournament marketing strategies utilizing paid media, earned media and promotions, which build national awareness and drive admissions revenue locally for assigned Championship Management tournaments, including THE PLAYERS Championship and FedEx St. Jude Championship.
  • Work cross functionally with tournament teams, Brand Marketing and media buyers to direct the development and execution of paid media plans which generate awareness and revenue against admissions budgets. Manage strategy from start to finish to achieve budget goals.
  • Collectively work with Creative Studio and the Creative Director to develop a brand strategy and promotional campaign that creates a voice for each assigned event in the local market. Ensure that campaigns align and maintain consistency across tournament execution, and internal and external partners.
  • Lead tournament accounts for assigned Championship Management tournaments by working cross functionally with internal (Communications, Ticket Operations, Brand Marketing, Creative Studio, International Media, Digital, Corporate Partnerships) and external (sponsors, partners, official marketing partners) stakeholders to execute integrated marketing campaigns.
  • Leverage in-kind and organic media opportunities with media activation team to bolster national media presence
  • Manage direct reports’ coordination of tournament marketing campaigns; Tasks include but are not limited to: strategic planning, developing and executing media plans for local and targeted drive markets, email marketing, creative briefing and fulfillment, project management, approvals, meeting notes, event promotions, recaps and other tasks.
  • Work in tandem with tournament sales teams to develop B2B marketing campaigns that collect leads and drive sales of hospitality suites and venues
  • Support tournament executive directors in the development of marketing budgets, media evaluations, hospitality promotions and provide regular financial reporting.
  • Assist tournament staff with the creation of on-site collateral, including signage, course maps, spectator and pairings guides, etc.
  • Provide on-site support for assigned tournaments during event week to execute promotions and activations and assist tournament staff throughout the week.
  • Work in partnership with Tournament Marketing Digital/Social and Communications teams to develop content plans which generate admissions revenue, awareness and exposure for assigned tournaments.
  • Analyze historical ticket data, secondary market sales and industry trends to develop ticketing strategies across assigned tournaments and markets. Evaluate the event-ticketing marketplace for new ways to generate revenue and profit.
  • Seek out new ideas and opportunities for tournaments to stay top of mind in local markets year-round
  • Develop and encourage staff to pursue new tasks and challenges related to overall departmental goals and objectives.
  • Contribute to departmental operations, including staffing, budget management/ cost containment, and internal communication.
  • Special projects or other duties as assigned.
